I woke up this morning thinking about Steps and why we do what we do. I was taken back to our vision statement which is “Steps of Justice is a justice based organization that partners with local churches, communities, and activists to bring awareness, education and practical steps that help us engage in serving the poor and oppressed of the world.”
Everything we do has to come out of our vision, and that only happens when we know what our vision is. With Steps we want people to know that there is a messed up world out there. Millions of people are enslaved to other peoples authority and abusive power. We also want people to know that they can be the answer to the cry of the oppressed. Currently we are doing this through Justice and Worship tour. This tour is not just about travelling around the USA in trucks and trailers because it is a cool thing to do, it is a response to our vision. Tonight we head into Simi Valley, CA to run an evening at Church of the Living Christ. Once again we will be living out our vision as we share stories, give challenges and respond to what Jesus is saying to us in worship and prayer.
What is your vision? What are the things in your life that you are passionate about and care deeply about? What are you doing to live that out? It doesn’t necessarily mean changing the trajectory of your life, it may just mean making different choices and being more aware of how you live, does it line up with your vision? If not, what steps are you going to take to see that happen? Check out MyNextStepIs and take a moment to write how you could change something in your life so that your actions line up more with your vision.
