Over the past week you have most likely seen the news on Syrians fleeing their country and being welcomed in by Germany and Austria. “Tragically over 230,000 people have died since the start of the Syrian crisis, and over 14 million people are in need of emergency humanitarian aid. We know it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the scale and severity of this, but we also know that people are capable of making an amazing impact in the face of human suffering.”- Taken from OneDaysWages.
This is our time to get involved. We have seen many tragedies over the past few years, with earthquakes, tsunamis and many issues pertaining to global poverty. There have been plenty of opportunities to give, and some of you have probably gave over and above, but lets not let this injustice go without our help.
Right now the Syrians need our support. They need prayer, finances and resources. In addition, the organizations helping the Syrian people are in need of our help too. Getting involved is as easy as 1, 2, 3:
- Become aware of the refugee situation. You can do that here and here.
- Pray for the people of Syria, both those in country and those who have fled.
- Give and get involved.
There are some great organizations out there who are working with this crisis and others who are providing ways to get involved. Check out the two below and take a Step of Justice.
To give financially- One Days Wages.
To get involved more- We Welcome Refugees.
