The saying “out of sight, out of mind” is so tragic. This is not the way we are supposed to live our lives. If it isn’t right in front of us that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist. Sadly though, this is the case with many of us.
Even though we don’t see poverty every day there is still over 3 billion people living in it. Even though we don’t see slavery every day there are still over 27 million people enslaved. Even though we are never hungry as we always have the option to eat there are still people dying every 5 seconds from hunger related illnesses. Even through it is not in the news anymore there are still people suffering in the Philippines as a result of the Typhoon.
Nearly 5600 people have died and 3.8 million people have been displaced and without homes since the typhoon hit last month. Even though millions of dollars have been given and volunteers have been coming to help there is still need and will be for years to come. This is why we are taking a team over with Steps of Justice, because there is still a need and we still need to respond.
Next month we will be working with CRI international in the area that was directly hit by the typhoon. We will be spending 8 days on the ground serving the needs of the people there and helping the local churches and relief workers in any way way they need. So we invite you to come. Come with your work gloves, your bug spray, your story telling tools (camera, computer, etc.) and with a soft and willing heart to be used by God to see lives changed.
We have set the price as cheap as we can to help get you there. Please go to the relief page here and sign up. We look forward to serving with you.
This video below is from CRI and is where we will be serving.
