Responding to the refugee crisis.

Jenny Yang says “The refugee crisis is too much of a crisis for the Church to ignore.” We agree wholeheartedly, and for the past 3 months we have been doing just that, not ignoring the refugee crisis. Each week we have been partnering with a local organization to take newly arrived families with refugee status to register for school. We have helped children from the Congo, Burma, Afghanistan, Iran and Somalia register for school in their neighborhoods. This is a vital step to continue their education and helps them adjust to american culture. Often times, the children know little to no english.

We are joining two organizations to plan and throw a “Welcome to San Diego” party for Syrian refugees on July 26th. Our hope is to bring together Syrian families with Americans and show them the love of Christ. We are very excited about the potential for this party, and to do more events in the future.

We have an opportunity for you to get involved in what Steps of Justice is doing in San Diego. We hope to raise $5500 to purchase a vehicle for Steps.  It will be used to transport families to register for school, to bring people to the welcome to San Diego parties, and to transport staff and teams. We are working with families regularly and this vehicle will meet a practical need.

Would you consider partnering with us by donating to this vehicle fund? All gifts are tax deductible and we will send you a picture of the vehicle and updates on how it is used.

Thank you so much for your partnership with Steps, we greatly appreciate it and wouldn’t want to do it without you.
