Justice Friday- Jesus, where are you?

The other day my friend shared her story. It is extremely powerful, and helped me see Jesus in new ways.

“I got on my knees and cried out to God. I want to see your face, I want to feel your presence, I want to know you. I know many can relate to this, who hasn’t cried this prayer out?

God gave me Matthew 25:35-40 and it hit me hard. He said to me,

‘Come find me
Im a stranger drinking at the bar
Im sick and immobile in your local hospital
Im in a 6 by 8 cell behind steel bars
Im thirsty drinking filthy water in Indonesia
Im starving in the slums of India
Im a boy handed a gun and forced to kill in Nigeria
Im a little girl being stripped naked and taken in a dark room
Im being pushed down and murdered in Israel

You say you want to see me, come find me.’

I now have a new prayer,

Father God I will go to you. With the Holy Spirit as the force behind me, when I go out there, i will not be moved but become a movement. I will seek you out. I will see you in the eyes of the hungry and break bread with you. I will feel you in the hearts of the lonely and abandoned and I will sip wine with you. I will hear you in the cries of injustice and I will lay myself down for you. Jesus set the example, to follow is to go.”
