Don’t regret 2010, just anticipate 2011

2010 is speedily coming to a screeching end and there is nothing you or I can do about it. There is this temptation and tendency to look back on 2010 with regret. Paralyzing thoughts of  “I regret not doing that, I wasted my year, wish I had done more, etc.” I just want to take a moment to encourage you to not look back on 2010 with regret, but to look ahead to 2011 with anticipation.

No one is keeping score, you can decide to make this year different without having to make up for anything you think you may have lost in 2010. Don’t focus on what you didn’t do, speak out what you want to do. Don’t focus on your regrets, move forward to your dreams and aspirations of the coming year. It doesn’t even have to start in 6 day’s when 2011 hits, it can and should start right now.

My good friend Wade has the same new years resolution each year. Wades new year resolution is to do less things that suck and more things that rule. Well for you and me that starts right now. Figure out what you want to do in the coming year that rules and spend your time focussing on that.

My hope for 2011 personally and with Steps Of Justice is to continue doing justice. I will continue to fight on behalf of the poor and oppressed and actively engage churches, school and individuals in new and creative ways that they can get involved in doing justice. I am excited about the coming year and the years to come.
