There are approx. 50,000 sex slaves working in the Kingdom of Cambodia. This is not your black and white typical type of slavery, but a slavery that is hard to see, hard to fight and hard to end even though it is very, very real. Globally, there are approximately 27 million living in slavery, over 20 million of them have been trafficked.
Here is some information from Polaris Project. “Human trafficking affects every country around the world, regardless of socio-economic status, history, or political structure. Human traffickers have created an international market for the trade in human beings based on high profits and demand for commercial sex and cheap labor. Trafficking affects 161 countries worldwide. An estimated 20.9 million men, women and children are trafficked for commercial sex or forced labor around the world today. Victims are trafficked both within and across international borders. Migrants as well as internally displaced persons are particularly vulnerable.”

The one thing about issues as big as this is that we seldom know what to do with our desire to see it ended.
