October Justice Awareness, Homes of Hope.

This October we are looking at issues of poverty, those who are vulnerable and the refugee. These issues are focussed on in the book of Psalms, chapter 146: 5-9:

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.”

Our project this year is to raise money to build four homes in Phnom Penh, Cambodia with the Children at Risk ministry. The Children at Risk ministry is a part of YWAM, and is serving poor and vulnerable communities in the rural areas of Phnom Penh. We are committed to help with these four house builds, two of which we will be building on our Matthew 25 trips this June and July. The total goal that we aim to raise this year is $12,000, which is not bad when you think about four families receiving homes.

To see this happen we need your involvement. Steps has been apart of building with Tim and Mel, the leaders of the Children of Risk ministry since day one. When a family is homeless, or does not have a stable home the results are:

  1. Disease from sleeping on the ground
  2. Vulnerability to bad weather, crime and diseases like malaria
  3. Education of children suffers
  4. Women are vulnerable to sexual assault and other forms of violence.

We can help see these results change, we can do justice on behalf of the poor and the vulnerable. We are asking if you could give $20, $50, $100, or more. We aim to raise $12000 for four families in Cambodia to receive homes? 100% of what you give will go to homes (minus Paypal fees).
