October Justice Awareness

Welcome to the October Justice Awareness Month. Starting on October 3 and going through October 31 we will be walking through what it looks like to take up the call as the Church of Jesus to “do Justice.” Through stories of people who have bravely answered Gods call, the October justice awareness month points to practical and biblical ways that you and I can be involved in bringing God’s justice into an unjust world.
Please engage throughout the month on the Steps Facebook page or our Twitter stream. Post your comments, your thoughts, your actions and any stories that have happened as a result of “doing justice.” Our stories will inspire others to engage and get their own cool stories. Also, share the love and lets see heaps of people going through this month doing justice together. Sign up on the event page here.
October is over, but don’t stop please.

For the past 28 day’s we have been walking through what it looks like to “do justice.” We have prayed, fasted, fed the hungry, donated money, went without shoes, read books, watched videos and told others what it looks like to take “steps of justice.” I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you.” And I also want to say “please don’t stop.”
October is over, but injustice still rages on in our world, both locally and internationally. There are still more slaves now than ever before (27 million), a billion people on our planet stil don’t have access to clean water and young girls are still being trafficked and raped by men all over the world against their will. Please continue to pray for the issues that matter to you by setting an alarm on your phone, wearing a watch or a shirt, or carrying something in your pocket that reminds you every time you reach in there.
Please also continue reading and being informed of issues of injustice. Volunteer at a local shelter, go on a mission trip with us at Steps or someone else. Volunteer or intern at an NGO like World Vision, IJM or Charity Water. Do a Justice focussed school like this one, write a song, make a documentary, shop differently or anything else that helps you not forget and to continue to take “steps of justice.”
We will see you again next October and hopefully will stay connected throughout the year. Please continue to follow us on Twitter and Facebook and let us know if there is anything we can do for you.
Much love and peace from us.
